The treatment
Breasts change and age over time, which can affect the results of a previous breast augmentation. Weight changes and pregnancies can also change the shape and size of the breast, which can lead to encapsulation of the implant or stretching of the skin.
The most common reasons for removal or replacement of implants are a feeling of heaviness and a desire to change the shape of the breasts. It may also be a wish that for various reasons you want to go up or down in implant size. An implant replacement, possibly in combination with a breast lift if necessary, improves the shape and appearance of the breast.
Method of Breast Implant Replacement
In the case of an implant replacement or extraction, a surgical procedure is performed in which the old implant is removed through an incision, usually along the same line as the original incision to minimize scarring. A new implant can then be placed in the breast, either in the same position as the previous one or in a new position to improve the shape and appearance of the breast. If necessary, a breast lift can be performed at the same time to correct any sagging and give the breasts a more youthful profile.
