Om behandlingen
Fillers are a popular aesthetic treatment used both to reshape the face and to reduce the signs of aging.
What are fillers?
Fillers usually consist of a gel-like material containing hyaluronic acid – a naturally occurring substance in the body that helps preserve moisture and volume in the skin. The treatment is carried out through injections with a fine needle or cannula, in or under the skin or directly on the facial bones. Facial filler injections are usually painless but may cause some discomfort or swelling after the injection.
Using hyaluronic acid for aesthetic treatments only became possible when hyaluronic acid became available in non-animal form in the mid-2000s. Per Hedén was actively involved in this development and still has close scientific contact with the main producers on the market with involvement as a lecturer and practical supervisor for therapists in Sweden and around the world.
There are several different fillers on the market. An important factor for success is the right choice for individual cases. This requires a thorough knowledge of the properties of the products.
What is treated?
Fillers are used to restore and build volume. The treatment is mainly used on the face to fill in wrinkles and fine lines, to increase volume in the lips and cheekbones, to restore acidic mouth lines and to give a more pronounced jawline. It can also be used to fill in hollows under the eyes.
One of the benefits of the treatment is that it provides immediate results with minimal recovery time. Patients can return to their daily routine immediately after treatment.
How long does the effect last?
The effect usually lasts between 9 and 12 months, but can sometimes last much longer. The variation is individual and depends on the type of fillers used and the location of the injections, as well as age, skin type and lifestyle.
