The treatment
After breast cancer surgery, there may be a desire to recreate the breast’s natural shape and volume based on each patient’s individual circumstances and wishes. Breast surgery can be performed with breast implants, the body’s own tissue, or a combination of the two.
Breast Reconstruction After Mastectomy
Breast reconstruction after mastectomy may involve either reconstruction of the entire breast using breast implants or own tissue, or partial reconstruction to restore breast symmetry after a lumpectomy. The choice of method depends on individual factors and wishes, and it is important to discuss all options with a qualified plastic surgeon.
Method of Breast Reconstruction
The Faculty is the only private clinic in the Nordic region that performs breast reconstructions with so-called DIEP Flaps. The method involves taking skin and tissue from the side of the chest and moving it forward to fill in with tissue to the outer side of the breast if necessary. The method is often used for reconstructive purposes together with implants.
Overall, our surgeons have leading expertise and experience when it comes to breast surgeries and we also receive patients who are not satisfied after surgeries performed by others.
