What do I need to consider before fillers or muscle relaxant injection treatment?
There are a number of things you need to consider before having a filler or muscle relaxant injection treatment. Here we list some things that can help you prepare for a treatment to make you feel as safe and comfortable as possible. Several things will also help you achieve the best possible results after treatment.
You are most welcome to contact us if you have more questions about what to consider before injection treatments, or if you want to book a consultation.
Choose the right practitioner
You should, of course, choose a practitioner you feel safe with and trust. It is important that the therapist, who may be a doctor or a nurse, is authorised and legally entitled to carry out the treatment. Those of us who work here at The Faculty and carry out this type of treatment are authorised and have extensive experience.
Things to avoid before injection treatments
There are some things you should avoid before having an injection treatment to ensure you get the best possible result. Some things can increase the risk of bruising, which is bleeding into the skin, as they make you bleed more easily.
Before your aesthetic injection treatment, make sure to avoid:
- Alcohol and other drugs, as alcohol (and other drugs) have a blood-thinning effect that can increase the risk of bruising.
- Pain-relieving tablets containing acetylsalicylic acid. Pain-relieving tablets such as Treo, Aspirin and
- Magnecyl has a blood-thinning effect and may increase the risk of bruising.
- Anti-inflammatory medicines such as Ipren, Voltaren, Ibuprofen, Albyl and Magnecyl.
- Omega-3 as it has a blood-thinning effect. You may want to avoid taking Omega-3 about two weeks before your treatment.

When should I not have a filler treatment?
Sometimes the best option is not to have a filler treatment. We care about your safety and therefore do not perform treatments when you
- have an infection in your body and feel sick
- have had allergic reactions or shown hypersensitivity to fillers in the past
- are pregnant or breastfeeding.
