What does liposuction involve?

Liposuction is a cosmetic surgical procedure that reduces localised fat deposits. Through incisions measuring just a few millimetres, thin cannulas are inserted under the skin to remove fat cells that do not respond to diet or exercise.

This method is designed for body contouring and is not a substitute for general weight loss. The final result depends on individual anatomical factors, with the skin’s natural elasticity determining how well the tissue adapts afterwards.

Depending on where the localised fat deposits are located on the body, the treatment can be tailored to a variety of different areas. The most common areas for the procedure include liposuction of the abdomen, flanks, back, upper arms, as well as the thighs, knees and calves. Our surgeons also regularly perform procedures on smaller areas of the face, such as chin liposuction to address a double chin or define the jawline.
Our plastic surgery specialists always carry out a thorough clinical examination of the relevant area prior to an operation. This makes it possible to assess whether liposuction alone offers the best results, or whether the procedure should be combined with other treatments – for example, a tummy tuck in cases of significant excess skin on the abdomen, or an arm lift for loose skin on the upper arms.

Why have liposuction?

The reasons for undergoing liposuction are highly personal. Many patients choose to have the procedure as a personal choice for their own well-being, for example when stubborn pockets of fat remain despite a healthy diet and exercise. For others, it is for practical reasons, such as reducing skin chafing, or for medical reasons, such as alleviating the feeling of heaviness associated with the condition lipoedema.

Liposuction consultation

The first step towards a potential procedure is a personal consultation with a plastic surgery specialist, either online or at our clinic in Stockholm. During this consultation, we will carry out a clinical examination of your anatomical characteristics and a thorough review of your health declaration.

You will be given factual and objective information about which methods are best suited to your body, as well as details of the expected course of the operation, post-operative care and potential risks. After the consultation, you have a statutory cooling-off period of at least seven days to make your decision in peace and quiet before giving your consent.

Security
& warranties

For your safety and peace of mind, you are always covered by patient insurance throughout your time with us. We also apply clear and transparent terms and conditions regarding the warranty period and follow-up, tailored entirely to the specific method chosen during your consultation.

Financing & Instalment Plans

As an alternative to direct payment, there are options for payment in instalments via external credit providers. This is presented entirely separately from medical assessments. During your consultation, you will be given a clear quote before your statutory cooling-off period begins.

Transparency & expectations

As every body has unique anatomical characteristics, all results are individual. During your consultation, we focus on medical facts and objective reference images to provide a realistic picture. We explain the healing process and risks before you give your consent.
