What do laser and IPL treatments involve?
Laser and IPL treatments are high-tech methods for skin rejuvenation and the correction of specific skin conditions. The difference between IPL and laser lies in the physics of light; lasers use a single, continuous wavelength, whereas IPL (intense pulsed light) disperses a broader spectrum of light via optical filters.
Both methods work by converting light energy into heat when it reaches its target in the tissue, such as melanin or dilated blood vessels. This stimulates cell renewal and repairs the skin according to your individual needs.

Why have a laser or IPL treatment?
The reasons for seeking light or laser treatment for the face are highly personal. Many patients choose to undergo a course of treatment for their own well-being, for example when they wish to remove pigmentation spots on the face or reduce rosacea that causes constant redness. The aim is to stimulate the skin’s natural regeneration and restore an even and balanced skin texture.

Risks with laser treatment
Although laser treatments are very safe when performed by experienced staff, there are medical risks to take into consideration. Common reactions include redness, swelling, and stinging during the first few days. Less common risks include infections, scarring, or altered skin pigmentation if post-care instructions and sun protection are not strictly followed.
Our modern clinics
The Faculty operates from two locations in Stockholm. Our clinic at Hangövägen 20 is specially designed for plastic surgery procedures, providing the ideal conditions for ensuring patient safety.
For injection treatments and medical skincare, you are warmly welcome to visit our clinic at Humlegårdsgatan 14. Whichever of our clinics you visit, you will meet plastic surgeons, anaesthetists, nurses and nursing assistants who will provide you with transparent information and base their recommendations entirely on your anatomical conditions and your personal preferences.
Consultation on laser and IPL treatments
Every treatment journey begins with a comprehensive clinical skin analysis carried out by one of our specialists in Stockholm or via a digital consultation. We assess your skin type using the Fitzpatrick scale, which is essential for safely calibrating the settings of the laser or IPL machine.
We will carefully review your health declaration to rule out any contraindications, such as photosensitising medication, and provide you with personalised aftercare instructions. Following the consultation, a statutory cooling-off period of at least 48 hours applies to aesthetic injections or associated advanced skin treatments.
How much does a laser treatment cost?
The price of a laser treatment depends on the area being treated, the technology required, and the number of sessions needed. Following your clinical skin assessment, you will always receive a written and transparent price quote.

Frequently asked questions about laser treatment
Here we have gathered common questions and answers regarding laser treatment
How much does a facial laser treatment cost?
The price depends entirely on which laser technology is used and whether the full face or specific individual areas are treated. You will receive a written price quote during your consultation.
Does a laser treatment hurt?
The feeling ranges from a light snapping sensation with IPL to a warm and burning sensation with CO2 laser. We always use numbing cream prior to deeper treatments to minimize discomfort.
What are the signs of infection after a laser peel?
You should watch for symptoms such as increasing pain, localized redness that spreads, yellowish pus, or fever. Contact the clinic immediately if you suspect an infection.
How long must you avoid the sun after the treatment?
You should completely avoid direct sunlight on the treated area for at least 4 to 6 weeks following the treatment, and thereafter consistently use sunscreen with SPF 50 for at least six months.
How long does the recovery take?
After IPL or non-ablative laser, you can often return to normal activities immediately. After a full fractionated CO2 laser peel, 7 to 10 days of recovery at home is usually required while the skin heals.
Can acne scars be completely removed with laser?
Laser treatment can significantly soften, smooth out, and reduce the visibility of deep acne scars, but the skin can rarely be restored to 100% completely smooth. The surgeon or practitioner will assess your individual conditions during the consultation.
