Breast implants in Stockholm
Are you considering breast implant surgery? Our qualified specialists will guide you with medical transparency and reassurance, whether you wish to have implants inserted, replaced or removed.
What does a breast implant involve?
A breast implant is a medically manufactured device used to restore or enhance the volume of breast tissue. We continuously evaluate the various implants available on the market and only use those that have been scientifically proven to be safe and effective.
Our approach to breast implants
At The Faculty, we use surgical techniques based on scientific evidence and extensive clinical experience. The choice of method is always tailored to your anatomical profile, skin quality and the amount of subcutaneous fat to achieve a natural-looking result.
Breast augmentation
The implant is inserted via a discreet incision, usually in the breast crease. Depending on the thickness of your tissue, the implant is placed either in front of or behind the chest muscle. The choice of small, large, round or teardrop-shaped breast implants is determined by the width of your chest.
Breast implant replacement
In this procedure, we remove your old implants and any surrounding scar tissue (capsule), before inserting new ones. In some cases, this is combined with a lift.
Removal of breast implants (explantation)
For patients who wish to have their breast implants completely removed, we perform surgical removal. In some cases, the removal of breast implants may require the procedure to be combined with a breast lift to ensure that the breast retains an aesthetically pleasing shape once the volume is lost.
Removal of breast implants
For those wishing to have their breast implants removed, the implant is taken out, and sometimes part or all of the surrounding capsule is removed (en bloc).
Gentle technology and medical precision
Whether the procedure involves inserting or replacing breast implants, our specialists use refined and gentle techniques that minimise surgical trauma to the breast tissue. A gentle and precise approach is crucial for reducing bleeding and swelling. This not only promotes a smoother healing process, but is also key to ensuring good blood circulation and creating the conditions for extremely discreet scars.

Pre-procedure consultation
The first step is a consultation with a plastic surgery specialist. You choose whether you want to book an online appointment or meet us in person at the clinic. During the appointment, you will be given medical information about risks, current waiting times and which techniques are best for you.
You will receive a personalised treatment plan tailored to your body. You will then meet with a coordinator to discuss the details regarding preparation, aftercare and waiting times.
Before and after breast implants
Everyone’s body heals differently, which means that surgical results are always unique to each individual. During your consultation, we will look at objective before-and-after photos of breast implants that resemble your current situation. Our medical before and after photos provide you with a reliable reference and help you to form realistic expectations of your results.

Step by step
To ensure that your treatment experience is as safe as possible, we have a quality-assured process from consultation through to a fully healed result.
01. Consultation
Medical assessment and choice of method
We will assess your body shape, measure your chest and try on different sizes of sports bras. We will discuss whether you should have implants inserted, replaced or removed.
02. Before your procedure
Preparing for a safe operation
Once you have given your consent, the operation will be scheduled. It is essential that you do not smoke for four weeks before and after the operation in order to minimise the risks associated with healing.
03. The day of the operation
Safe care at the clinic
You will be admitted. The procedure usually takes 1–2 hours and is always carried out under general anaesthetic to ensure optimal patient safety and comfort.
04. After the operation
Awakening and initial rest
You will rest in our recovery ward, which is under constant supervision. You will be wearing a supportive surgical bra. Most patients are able to go home the same day, but in some cases you may need to stay overnight.
05. Recovery & healing
Self-care and convalescence guidelines
During the first few weeks, arm movement will be restricted. Physical exercise and heavy lifting must be avoided for at least four to six weeks.
06. Monitoring & results
Medical check-up and final assessment
We will arrange follow-up appointments for wound care with our nurses. A final follow-up appointment with your surgeon is usually scheduled after around six months.
Surgical outcomes
Immediately after your operation, the tissue will be swollen and your breasts will sit high and feel very tight. This is to be expected. The muscles and skin need several months to relax and allow the implant to settle into its permanent, anatomical position. The swelling will gradually subside, and we will carry out a thorough final assessment of the permanent result once approximately six months have passed.
Our specialists in plastic surgery
At The Faculty, we have assembled a hand-picked team of plastic surgeons, with every cosmetic procedure being performed by a specialist surgeon with extensive expertise – the cornerstone of your safety.
Who is eligible for surgery?
The procedure is available to anyone over the age of 18 who is in good physical health. During the consultation, we will go through your health declaration in detail. Conditions affecting the immune system, bleeding disorders or active smoking are factors that may constitute medical contraindications for surgery, as our primary responsibility is always to ensure your physical safety during anaesthesia and recovery.
Breast implant complications and risks
All surgical procedures carry medical risks. Bleeding, delayed wound healing or temporary changes in sensation may occur. The implant-specific breast implant complications we monitor closely include capsular contracture (when scar tissue hardens) and rippling (visible folds in the skin). We also maintain an open, fact-based dialogue regarding the medical discussions surrounding breast implant-associated illness (BII) and the risk of breast implant-associated cancer. It is important to note that BIA-ALCL is a form of lymphoma that occurs only in very rare cases and has been linked almost exclusively to specific macrotextured implants, a type of implant that we naturally avoid entirely for patient safety reasons.
Other treatments in breast surgery
Breast implants are not the only solution. During your consultation, we will assess your overall situation to find the procedure that best suits your needs. If you would like to increase your breast size without using foreign materials, we offer breast augmentation using your own body fat. If the issue is more one of sagging skin, asymmetry or a heavy bust, we would instead recommend a breast lift or a breast reduction. Our expertise covers the entire field of breast surgery, including the removal of older implants (explantation), which guarantees a bespoke and medically safe treatment plan tailored specifically to your body.

Why choose breast implants?
There are many personal reasons for wanting to undergo breast implant surgery. Some women wish to restore volume after pregnancy and breastfeeding, whilst others seek a change in the size or shape of their breasts to achieve a figure that feels right for them. It is a matter of your personal choice and how you want to feel comfortable in your own body. We listen to your wishes to understand what is important to you, and then draw up a realistic plan based on your unique anatomical conditions.
Frequently asked questions about breast implants
Here we have compiled a list of frequently asked questions and answers regarding breast implants
How long do breast implants last, and do they need to be replaced?
A common misconception is that implants have a strict ‘use-by date’. How long breast implants last depends on changes in the body, not just the product itself. You only need to replace breast implants if they rupture or cause medical problems. How long you can keep breast implants varies, but many people opt for revision surgery after 10–15 years when the tissue has changed.
How often should breast implants be replaced?
The short answer to the question of how often breast implants should be replaced is that there is no set timeframe. As long as your implants are intact (which can be confirmed by ultrasound) and your breasts feel soft and look good, there is no set answer to how often you should replace breast implants; they can often remain in place for considerably longer than ten years.
What are the typical symptoms of capsular contracture following breast implant surgery?
The body always forms a natural scar capsule (breast implant capsule) around the implant. If this contracts abnormally, it leads to capsular contracture. Typical symptoms include the breast suddenly feeling very hard, changing shape, or a dull pain developing in the tissue.
When can I start doing breast lift exercises?
Light walks are recommended immediately after the operation. However, you should wait for around 4 weeks before doing any exercise that raises your heart rate. You must wait at least 10–12 weeks before resuming heavy strength training, particularly exercises that engage the chest and arm muscles, as well as jumping and running; for the chest and arm muscles, wait 6–8 weeks to avoid compromising the healing process.
Can you breastfeed with breast implants?
Yes, for the vast majority of women, breastfeeding with breast implants works perfectly well. The operation is performed gently, but we always inform patients that any type of breast surgery carries a small, residual risk that breastfeeding with breast implants may be affected if nerves or milk ducts are disrupted.
Is it possible to have a mammogram if you have breast implants?
Of course. It is extremely important that you continue to attend screening and have mammograms even if you have breast implants. The only thing you need to bear in mind is to let the radiographer know so that they can adjust the pressure during your mammogram to suit your breast implants.
How much do breast implants cost in total?
The cost of the surgery depends on whether it is a primary procedure or a complex revision operation. The exact cost of breast implants for you will be discussed during your consultation. Prices for new implants normally start from SEK 56,000.
