What do filler injections involve?

Filler injections are minimally invasive procedures in which a crystal-clear, sterile gel consisting of synthetic hyaluronic acid is injected into the tissue. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring sugar substance with a unique ability to bind moisture and provide structural support beneath the skin.

The treatments are designed to mechanically lift sagging areas, correct congenital or acquired asymmetries, and accentuate the bone structure. The end result is immediately visible and blends naturally with the unique anatomy of the face and body.

Risks of fillers

Even though hyaluronic acid is a well-proven material, injections involve physiological reactions. Expected reactions include temporary swelling, tenderness, and bruising. Less common risks include asymmetry, lumps, or product migration. A rare risk is accidental injection into a blood vessel, which requires immediate treatment with hyaluronidase (an enzyme that breaks down the filler). Your practitioner will explain all safety procedures during your visit.

The Faculty operates from two locations in Stockholm. Our clinic at Hangövägen 20 is specially designed for plastic surgery procedures, providing the ideal conditions for ensuring patient safety.

For injection treatments and medical skincare, you are warmly welcome to visit our clinic at Humlegårdsgatan 14. Whichever of our clinics you visit, you will meet plastic surgeons, anaesthetists, nurses and nursing assistants who will provide you with transparent information and base their recommendations entirely on your anatomical conditions and your personal preferences.

Consultation on dermal fillers

Every treatment journey begins with a personal consultation with one of our injection specialists, either online or in person at our clinic in Stockholm. We analyse your bone structure, carry out a clinical assessment of your skin’s elasticity and review your health declaration.

You will be provided with factual medical information regarding the procedure, the volume required (e.g. 1 ml or 2 ml) and potential risks, such as product migration. Following the consultation, a statutory cooling-off period of at least 48 hours applies before consent can be given.

What do fillers cost in Stockholm?

The cost depends on the area being treated and the volume of hyaluronic acid required for your individual needs. You will always receive an exact price in writing following your consultation.

Does getting fillers hurt?

The injection needle or cannula used is very thin, and most filler products contain a built-in anesthetic (lidocaine). A topical numbing cream can also be applied prior to treatment to minimize discomfort.

How long do the effects of fillers last?

The longevity varies depending on the treatment area, product consistency, and your metabolism, but typically ranges between 6 and 18 months. Areas with high mobility (such as the lips) break down slightly faster than more static areas (such as the cheekbones or chin).

What should you do if you are dissatisfied or if the filler migrates?

Since hyaluronic acid fillers are not permanent, they can, if needed, be dissolved quickly and safely using an enzyme called hyaluronidase.

What reactions can occur after the treatment?

Mild swelling, local tenderness, and occasional bruising are completely normal reactions that usually subside within a few days up to a week.

How long is the recovery period?

There is no lengthy recovery period, and you can return to work immediately. However, you should avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, and applying makeup during the first 24 hours.
