A hair transplant is a microsurgical procedure in which healthy hair follicles are moved from a donor area at the back of the head to thinning areas on the crown. The method results in a permanent redistribution of hair growth.

Risks of hair transplantation
Even though the FUE and DHI methods are gentle and well-proven, all surgical procedures involve medical risks. Expected side effects include temporary swelling around the forehead and eyes, redness, tenderness, and scabs on the scalp during the first two weeks. Less common risks include hair follicle infection, delayed healing, or temporarily reduced sensation in the scalp. Your practitioner will thoroughly review all safety protocols and preventive measures during your visit.

The anatomical result develops gradually and is determined by your individual circumstances and the vitality of your hair follicles. The reference images shown during your consultation are merely illustrations of what is physically possible and do not constitute a guarantee of a specific outcome.

The transplanted hair follicles initially enter a resting phase and shed their hairs during the first few weeks. New, permanent hair begins to grow after three to four months, and the final anatomical result can be fully assessed after twelve to eighteen months.
PRP treatment for hair
As the method is based on the body’s own cell renewal process, the changes occur gradually. The first sign is usually a reduction in hair loss after a few weeks, whilst increased density and stronger hair become most noticeable after three to six months.

The first step is a personal consultation with one of our specialists at our clinic in Stockholm or via a video call. We will carry out a clinical assessment of your scalp, examine the density of the donor area and review your health declaration. You will receive factual information about surgical methods, risks and aftercare.
Depending on whether you are planning a hair transplant or a course of injections, you are entitled by law to a cooling-off period of at least seven days or 48 hours, respectively, to allow you to consider your consent at your leisure.

Does a hair transplantation hurt?
The procedure itself is performed under local anesthesia and is painless. When the anesthesia is administered, a small sting may be felt, but you will experience no discomfort during the transplantation itself. Afterward, a slight tightness or tenderness may occur during the first few days.
Do the transplanted hairs remain permanently?
The hair follicles harvested from the back of the head are genetically programmed not to be affected by the hormone (DHT) that causes hereditary male hair loss. The transplanted follicles retain this property and normally continue to produce hair in their new location.
How does PRP work against hair loss?
PRP involves taking a small amount of your own blood and centrifuging it to extract blood plasma rich in growth factors. The plasma is injected into the scalp to increase blood circulation around the hair follicles, stimulate cell renewal, and nourish thinning hair.
How long is the recovery time after a hair transplantation?
Most people can return to non-physical work after approximately 7 to 10 days, once the scabs in the recipient area have sloughed off. Strenuous exercise and heavy lifting should be avoided for three to four weeks.
Is it visible that you have had a hair transplantation?
With modern techniques like FUE and DHI, each hair follicle is placed with consideration to angle and direction to match your natural growth pattern. Once the healing phase is complete and the new hair has grown out, no linear scars are visible.
