Birgit Stark

Dr Birgit Stark was trained in Germany and became a specialist in surgery in 1987 and plastic surgery in 1989. She has lived in Sweden since 1992 and obtained her doctorate at Karolinska Institutet in 1999, and an associate professorship in plastic surgery in 2007.

Dr Birgit Starks has extensive knowledge and experience in reconstructive and aesthetic plastic surgery, her main areas of interest are facial surgery, breast surgery and abdominal wall reconstruction. She is involved in research, development and teaching in all areas and has published more than 60 scientific papers in international journals and has supervised several PhD students.

During her career, she has held several national and international board positions in various plastic surgery professional associations, including as President of the Swedish Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (SFEP). In 2014, she founded the Swedish Breast Implant Register BRIMP and holds the important position of President of EASAPS, the European Association of Societies of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
