Hi, just had a face, neck and nose surgery by Jonas R. Too early to say anything about the end result yet but he is magical in his practice so it can only be the best. I have never been treated so well and taken care of, all the way from the first consultation, surgery planning, reception, the surgery team, the two-night stay. First class VIP feeling right through including the environment which is also TopNotch, private room with TV "sea view" and large veranda/balcony. They have their own chef who prepares wonderful food based on wishes and possible allergens. Room service 24/7 Super professionals the whole team I must say. I will definitely come back here again. Kind regards, Anna

So professional, nice treatment from start to finish. Dr. Heden inspires great confidence and I received great information after the operation about how it went. The anesthesia and surgical staff were fantastic, I felt so calm and felt safe in their hands. The care in the nursing ward after the operation was top notch, nice, safe and good breakfast🌸

World class on-site surgery. A professional clinic with Sweden's most skilled and experienced doctors. I have had surgery at other clinics but have not experienced skill and service at this level. Big thanks to Per Hedén and the rest of the staff.

Modern business where everything is new and except for the staff, they are old in the paperclip, incredibly experienced and in sync from the reception, nurses, nurses, anesthesia staff and surgeons. No questions are stupid, and they have a rock-solid understanding of pain relief. When the breakfast tray arrives after waking up, you become a little religious with happiness.

Nice staff throughout the clinic and good aftercare, responds quickly to emails. Lovely Riikka operated on me after the effects of childbirth I had a few years earlier. It was nice to be operated on in an environment that is not depressing and with staff/surgeons who are committed.

What does ‘The Faculty Glow Up’ mean?

The Faculty Glow Up is a bespoke combination of two procedures. The term ‘dermaplaning’ (referred to here as ‘Glow Scalpel’) refers to a method in which the outermost layer of skin and fine dermaplaning hairs (vellus hair) are removed using a sterile scalpel. This is followed by deep-penetrating hydrating injections based on hyaluronic acid. Together, these methods aim to mechanically smooth the skin’s texture and lock in moisture, resulting in a more radiant complexion.

Why have a dermaplaning and glow treatment?

Choosing to invest in the skin’s texture and moisture balance is a personal decision. Many people opt for our combination treatment, The Faculty Glow Up, ahead of a special occasion. The procedure aims to mechanically remove dead skin cells through meticulous dermaplaning (using the Glow Scalpel) whilst deeply rehydrating the skin. The process is entirely tailored to your individual anatomy, and we strive to enhance your skin’s natural qualities. We listen to your wishes and devise a medically sound and realistic plan tailored specifically to your skin type.

Our methods for a ‘glow’ treatment

Our combination of methods is carried out in two stages to ensure optimal and safe results. We use clinically proven techniques to ensure you feel at ease throughout the process.

Glow Scalpel (dermaplaning)

Using a fine, sterile scalpel, the outermost layer of dead skin cells and fine facial hair is gently removed. This mechanical exfoliation is designed to create a smoother skin surface. We are sometimes asked about dermabrasion, but dermaplaning is a considerably gentler and more superficial exfoliation technique.

Deep-penetrating moisture injections

Immediately following the peel, a hyaluronic acid-based moisturising treatment is carried out. This stage aims to lock in moisture from within and strengthen the skin’s underlying structure. The entire procedure is then repeated after four weeks.

A clinic full of expertise

Undergoing aesthetic injection treatments requires trust in the person holding the scalpel and the syringe. At The Faculty, you will meet hand-picked, registered nurses and doctors with extensive clinical experience of skin and injection treatments. Our practice is underpinned by medical safety and open communication. We explain every step in detail so that you have the knowledge you need to feel fully informed.

Pre-treatment consultation

Your first step is always a consultation with one of our qualified injection nurses or skin specialists. During the consultation, you will receive objective information about what the treatment can achieve based on your unique skin type, as well as a review of any potential risks.

Following your visit, there is a statutory 48-hour reflection period for injection treatments. After that, you can take your time to decide whether you wish to give your consent.

The Evolution of You

The Faculty Glow Up
Step by step

To ensure you feel well prepared, we have a clear and reliable process, from consultation to follow-up.

Consultation

You will meet with our qualified staff for a medical assessment of your skin. Together, we will discuss whether The Faculty Glow Up is the right course of action for you. You will then have 48 hours to consider your options before the injections.

Before your treatment

Once the cooling-off period has passed, we will book you in. To minimise the risk of bruising, we recommend that you avoid taking blood-thinning medication (such as Ipren or Treo) and alcohol in the days leading up to your appointment.

The day of treatment

At the clinic, we begin the treatment with dermaplaning, where a sterile scalpel (Glow Scalpel) is gently glided over the skin to remove dead skin cells and fine facial hair. The hydrating injections are then administered at strategic points.

After treatment

The peel requires no recovery time. However, the injections may cause small, localised swellings (similar to mosquito bites) at the injection sites. These usually subside within one to two days.

The second treatment session

To achieve optimal radiance and restore moisture to the tissue, the same procedure – dermaplaning and injections – is repeated exactly four weeks later.

Monitoring & results

The final results of the treatment can best be assessed 3–4 weeks after the second session. If necessary, we will book a follow-up appointment to ensure that your skin has responded well and that you feel comfortable.

Results of dermaplaning

Mechanical exfoliation using a scalpel is designed to immediately remove dead skin cells and flaky skin, which can result in a visually smoother skin surface straight after your appointment. The deep-penetrating moisture injections then work gradually by being absorbed into the tissue over the coming weeks. How the results develop depends, amongst other things, on your skin’s physiological condition, your age and how well you follow the aftercare advice. The full effect of a The Faculty Glow Up is best assessed objectively three to four weeks after your second and final treatment session.

Our specialists in skin care and injections

At The Faculty, the team consists exclusively of hand-picked, registered nurses and specialist doctors with extensive clinical experience. This high level of medical expertise is the foundation of your safety. We guide you through the entire treatment process with knowledge, precision and a non-judgemental approach.

Who can have dermaplaning?

To undergo aesthetic injection treatments, you must be aged 18 or over, in good health, and not be pregnant or breastfeeding. Dermaplaning is generally suitable for most skin types that can tolerate mechanical exfoliation. However, the treatment will not be carried out if you have active acne, flaring rosacea or active infections in the treatment area. During your initial consultation, your medical history will be carefully assessed to ensure the procedure is safe and suitable for you.

Risks and complications

All procedures, including injections and mechanical skin exfoliation, carry certain medical risks. Following dermaplaning, the skin may become slightly red and sensitive. With injection treatments, there is a risk of localised bruising, swelling and tenderness. More rare complications may include infections. During your consultation, the practitioner will provide detailed information about these risks and explain how we at the clinic take preventative measures through strict hygiene protocols.

Frequently asked questions about dermaplaning

Frequently asked questions and answers about dermaplaning

What is dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a mechanical exfoliation treatment in which a sterile scalpel is gently glided over the skin to remove dead skin cells and fine hairs. Here at The Faculty in Stockholm, we combine this with hydrating injections as part of our Glow Up treatment.

Does a Glow Scalpel treatment hurt?

No, the scalpel peel itself is gentle and is often experienced as completely painless. During the subsequent injection treatment, you may feel a few small pricks, but it is over quickly and is well tolerated by most people.

Does dermaplaning make hair grow back darker?

No. Fine facial hair is not biologically affected by being shaved or scraped off at the surface. The hairs grow back at the same rate, colour and thickness as before.

How long does it take to recover afterwards?

No recovery time is required following the scalpel peel itself. However, the injections may cause slight localised swelling (similar to mosquito bites) at the injection sites. This usually subsides completely within one to two days.

What are the side effects and risks?

Side effects are rare but may include temporary redness and small bruises from the injections. As with any procedure that involves breaking the skin, there is a small risk of infection, which we will explain in detail during your consultation.

How soon will I see results?

The Glow Scalpel peel gives an instantly smoother complexion and a radiant glow. Hydration levels then gradually increase. The final result is best assessed 3–4 weeks after the second treatment session.

Does dermaplaning work for all skin types?

It is a suitable option for many people, but the treatment is not carried out on skin affected by inflamed acne, rosacea or active infections. We always assess your anatomical conditions during your consultation.
