Filip Farnebo has been practising plastic surgery since 2003 and specialises in both aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgery. He has a strong academic background and was appointed adjunct professor at the Department of Molecular Medicine and Surgery at Karolinska Institutet in 2011, where he also leads a research group. He also holds a research-related post at the same department until 2028.

Within the public healthcare system in Stockholm, Filip works as a senior consultant at Karolinska University Hospital, where he is responsible for reconstructive surgery for patients with facial paralysis. Alongside his reconstructive work, Filip has built up extensive experience in aesthetic plastic surgery over more than two decades. Between 2010 and 2018, he practised at Akademikliniken and subsequently at Conturkliniken until 2023, before being recruited to The Faculty in 2024.

Filip’s main areas of expertise include facial surgery, breast surgery and advanced reconstructive plastic surgery, in which he performs both cosmetic procedures and complex reconstructions following injury or illness. Throughout his career, he has placed great emphasis on combining his clinical work with scientific research, teaching and academic supervision of PhD students.
