Over the course of more than three decades in the profession, Dr Mats von Wachenfeldt has established himself as a well-known figure in the field of Swedish plastic surgery. With thousands of operations under his belt, his clinical experience covers the entire spectrum from advanced reconstruction to cosmetic surgery. His training began at Karolinska University Hospital and St Erik’s Eye Hospital, before he went on to further his expertise internationally at the renowned Cedars-Sinai and UCLA Medical Centre in Los Angeles.

After qualifying as a specialist in 2002, Mats was hand-picked the following year to join Akademikliniken. There, he spent 15 years specialising in advanced aesthetic plastic surgery, before moving on to Plastikkirurggruppen and subsequently to Art Clinic at Sophiahemmet. His primary area of expertise lies in breast surgery – both aesthetic and reconstructive – but he also has extensive clinical experience in facial procedures (such as eyelid surgery and endoscopic forehead lifts) as well as body contouring operations such as tummy tucks and ‘mummy makeovers’.

In his clinical work, Mats is characterised by medical rigour, technical precision and an uncompromising focus on patient safety. Before every operation, he carries out a very thorough individual assessment in which the patient’s function, natural proportions and the overall aesthetic impression are always taken into account to achieve a long-term, sustainable result.

To ensure he remains at the forefront of academic and clinical developments, Mats regularly attends international and national scientific conferences. By keeping up to date with the latest research and new surgical techniques, he offers modern care, and is regarded by both his patients and his colleagues as an exceptionally reliable and skilled surgeon.
