During this appointment, a clinical assessment of the skin elasticity, the location of fat deposits and the bone structure of your chin and jaw is made. Preparing for a safe operation
We ensure that you have not taken blood-thinning medication in recent days. The entire lower part of the face is cleaned and disinfected very carefully with chlorhexidine. In the case of a thread lift, local anesthesia is also administered.

Safe care at the clinic
Fillers use a blunt cannula or thin needle to gently distribute hyaluronic acid deep under the folds. Thread lifts involve inserting thin threads under the skin via a cannula, anchoring them in the tissue, and gently tightening them to create a mechanical lift.
After treatment
Awakening and initial rest
The area is carefully inspected. During filler treatment, a light massage is performed for smoothness. We verbally go through the upcoming healing process.

Self-care and convalescence guidelines
Do not wear any makeup for 12 hours. Avoid intense heart-raising exercise, saunas and extreme cold during the first 48 hours. When having a thread lift, it is especially important to avoid large chewing movements, visits to the dentist and sleeping on your stomach during the first few weeks to avoid putting stress on the threads.

Depending on the method, a return visit is scheduled after 14 days (for fillers) or after a few weeks (for thread lifts) to ensure perfect tissue integration and symmetry.

What are marionette lines?
Marionette lines are the distinct vertical folds of skin that run from the corners of the mouth down towards the jawline. They are created when the facial fat pads sag with age and the skin loses its elasticity, resulting in a build-up of volume at the jaw that pushes down the corners of the mouth.
Is it possible to completely remove puppet lines?
With fillers and thread lifts, we can very successfully remove marionette lines visually by smoothing out the transition between cheek and chin. However, it is important to have realistic expectations; we can significantly reduce the depth and shadows, but the face always retains its natural, moving facial expressions.
Which method is best: marionette lines fillers or thread lift?
This is determined by your anatomy. If the fold is primarily due to local volume loss ("a ditch"), fillers are the most effective method of building up the tissue from within. If the fold is caused by large amounts of sagging skin ("hamster bags"), a marionette line thread lift may be more appropriate to mechanically lift the skin back. Often, both are combined.
Does the injection hurt?
The area around the mouth is sensitive, but the treatment is very gentle. The hyaluronic acid we use contains local anesthetic (Lidocaine) which numbs the area from the inside during the treatment. If necessary, anesthetic cream is also applied beforehand. For thread lifts, an effective local anesthetic is always applied.
How long does a filler for marionette lines last?
Hyaluronic acid injected into this area has a high density and usually lasts between 9 and 12 months, sometimes longer. The durability is determined by your individual metabolism and how much facial expression and muscle activity you have around the mouth.
Can creams or facial yoga remove wrinkles?
No. Skincare products can improve the skin's surface layer and moisture level, but they can never restore lost volume in the subcutaneous fat or correct bone structure. Facial exercises also have no clinical support for providing an anatomical lift of sagging skin.
